24 HOURS IN VARANASI

Day 1
You probably will arrive by flight or nighttrain. A transfer to our house is arranged. Our check-in time is 3 PM, but if you arrive earlier we will do our best to give you the room as soon as we can while you enjoy a coffee/tea and homemade cake in our lounge. Do you arrive before lunchtime? Simply cross the street to enjoy lunch at Sparrow Café.

After lunch (not included) we will take you on a captivating walking tour through the heritage lanes of Varanasi’s old city, specifically the Chowk area. This journey offers an intimate glimpse into the local lifestyle, culture, and architecture, featuring hidden temples, old monuments, and vibrant food corners. Ofcourse you'll get the chance to try some streetfood.

In the evening you should not miss the Ganga Aarti ceremony at Dashashwamedh Ghat, a spectacular display of devotion with lamps and chanting. It starts around 6 PM. After the Aarti you can go for dinner. We will give you some good suggestions.

Coming back to NILAY House and not ready to sleep? Feel free to browse through our collection of books and relax in our lounge or at our balcony. In your room you will find organic teas and cookies :)

Day 2
You have to wake up early to experience the serene and spiritual essence of Varanasi with a morning boat ride on the Ganges. This tour allows you to witness the morning rituals, prayers, and the breath-taking sunrise over the river. 

After this tour your breakfast will be served at Sparrow Café. After breakfast it is time to check-out from your room. But you can leave your luggage with us if needed and can use our lounge for as long as you like.

 

If possible do not leave too early :) We suggest you to visit Assi Ghat, sit on the stairs for a moment, to see life around the ghats. Enjoy a piece of the famous Apple Pie at Vatika Café with a view on the Ghat or have a Chai or Lemon Tea at a local Tea Shop nearby. Do some shopping in and around NILAY House, at Khadi for example, for organic skincare. We also have a small in-house shop, selling blockprints from the House of NILAY brand.
